Helical Gears

Helical Gear

We manufacture and supply Helical Gear or “dry fixed” gears which offers a refinement over spur gears.

The leading edges of the teeth are not parallel to the axis of rotation, but are set at an angle. Since the gear is curved, this angling makes the tooth shape a segment of a helix. Helical gears can be meshed in parallel or crossed orientations. The former refers to when the shafts are parallel to each other; this is the most common orientation.

The angled teeth engage more gradually than do spur gear teeth, causing them to run more smoothly and quietly. the use of helical gears is indicated when the application involves high speeds, large power transmission, or where noise abatement is important.  Read more.

01

Manufacturing Method

Produced on the gear hobbing machine
- During the hobbing process, both the cutter as well as workpiece rotate and the cutter feeds axially across gear blank
- Serves the same purpose as spur gears

02

Materials

Carburizing steel (EN8, EN19, EN24, EN36),
Stainless steel,
Aluminium,
Nylon and phosphorus bronze

03

Pricing

Our pricing model takes the following into consideration:
1. Raw material costs determined by the size of material required
2. Plus estimated machine and gear-cutting time
3. Plus heat treatment costs (only if required)

04
